Ricoh - The Results

July 16, 2014 by Edith Robertson

And the Winner is…………………………………………

Mo Martin of the USA, who I suspect was a rank outsider at the start of this year’s third major, congratulations to anyone who had a wager on her. There is no doubt that she played very well down the stretch with some hardened players breathing down her neck. Great performance, I just hope its not too much too soon for Mo and that her game continues to develop and she wins more on LPGA. This is all good news for the LPGA - the rising to the top of some of its younger (and in some cases older) players. This is the first time since 1999 that the first three Ladies Majors have been won by Americans. Let’s hope that helps the LPGA Tour in the USA. There was a lot of negativity when it was a succession of foreign (especially players from the Far East) were winning consistently on the Tour.

My bets didn’t fair too well - the shock was Catriona - she had a nightmare second round and missed the cut. Hedwall also missed the cut. Meadows faded and Charley Hull played some gutsy rounds - we have out own young talent on the LET.
